I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
Psalm 121:1-2
Over the years I’ve been blessed with friends who have helped me with various issues and undertakings, and I am grateful for their love. Yet, as I’ve aged, I realize true help comes from God. He knows me, what and who I need, sometimes before I even think I need help! He grants me the gifts of wisdom, forgiveness, patience, strength, and faithful friends.
Reading God’s Word when it’s quiet is a consistent goal in my day. Ideally in the morning, it trains my mind to think about how I want my day to go, for my sake and for the sake of others, and how to please God. Those few minutes alone keep my focus on God and His mighty works in heaven and on earth, graciously strengthening my faith and energizing me for whatever the day will bring.

Lord, keep my going out and my coming in from this time forth and forevermore. Amen.
