“And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John 8:32
Truth sometimes hurts, sometimes soothes. You have occasions to rejoice over it. You have times when you cry over it. Truth can anger you (especially when it’s about you!). Sometimes you want to hide it, and sometimes you proudly display it. Truth can reveal sins. But truth also has authority to invite repentance and proclaim the Gospel.
All Christians struggle with truth. Many people love Jesus when He does what they want Him to do; their feelings, words, and actions take an ugly turn when He tells the truth about their sins. They abandon faith when Jesus exposes the accurate truth about their sinfulness. They don’t want to see the whole truth — the truth that God forgives sins. Even the most harmful and hurtful ones.
The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, is that you have that forgiveness right now!
