The Secret of Being Content
5 30 25 2 HFL

… I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content …

Philippians 4:11

William Hanes was a man in prison for forty years, for a crime he did not commit. He died in prison in 2021. Yet in all the years of his incarceration, Bill never faltered in his faith nor decried his plight. Bill knew that, not only did God know he was innocent, but that God was with him, strengthening and using him, for God’s purpose. Bill was usually full of joy, which was seen in his attitude and his constant witnessing to other inmates. Bill truly understood and believed what the Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 4:11, “I have learned how to be content whatever the circumstances … I have known the secret of being content in any and every situation.”

Gordon E. Freese
St. Louis, MO

Dear Lord, grant me the wisdom to know and understand that You are always with me in all situations. Therefore, I do not have to fear or be anxious. Amen.

Reflect: In all your trials and difficulties, remember that God is there and can give you comfort and peace.

Read: Philippians 4:11-12 and Philippians 4:6
