“... I may show the kindness of God ...”
2 Samuel 9:3
What a powerful phrase, “The kindness of God” is!
Mephibosheth, part of the discredited family of Saul, and his son Jonathan, were people David showed the kindness of God. Because David had such love for his “brother” Jonathan, he wanted to share that same love with Jonathan’s descendants. So, he did, honoring the lame Mephibosheth with the kindness of hospitality and security.
What about you? You also have seen the kindness of God — Jesus, the Savior, has come into your life, forgiving you, promising life and salvation. That’s not just kindness, that’s extravagance!
How might you show the kindness of God? Hug a child. Offer transportation. Visit a shut-in. Make a meal. Give a gift. Collect school supplies. Volunteer. Tutor a child. Mend a shirt.

Lord, give me opportunities to pass on the kindness you have shown to me! Amen.
Reflect: Who has shown the kindness of God to you?
