… the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness …
Galatians 5:22-23
One hot summer day years ago, I had just finished shopping at a pharmacy. As I started to leave the parking lot, a young boy suddenly appeared at my car window. “Can you give us a ride home?” he asked. I asked who he meant by “us.” He turned to point to a woman sitting on the bench for people waiting for the bus. I assumed that she was his mother. Complimented that this innocent child trusted me to help them, I said I would.
My compassion and the Holy Spirit inspired me to respond to this unexpected ministry opportunity. I had not been accustomed to offering rides to strangers. I believed, however, that God would keep us safe, and He did.
As a senior, I have learned that we all accompany each other on life’s journey.

Dear Lord, thank You for guiding me whenever I have faced a challenge in my life. Amen.
Reflect: When have you succeeded in accomplishing a seemingly impossible task that God called you to do?
