Thank you, Thomas!

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life.”

John 14:6a

While reading through a Christmas supply catalog, I noticed a nativity set with the description, “The Way in the Manger.” At first, I thought it was a misprint, and then I realized how profoundly accurate it was!

When Jesus told his disciples he was going to prepare a place for them and they knew the way, confused Thomas said they didn’t even know where he was going, how could they possibly know the way. And Jesus answered, “I am the way ...” Have you ever been lost? It’s a frightening, frustrating feeling. I think that’s why so many people love Waze and Google Maps; they want to know the way to their destination. Our destination is heaven, and Jesus tells us exactly how to get there: through him ... the “Way!” No need to be tech-savvy; just cling to the One who suffered, died, and rose again. You won’t get lost!

Dear Jesus, thank you for bringing us safely to our eternal home. Amen.

Reflect: Think of a time you were lost and how you felt.

Read: Psalm 32:8 and Deuteronomy 10:12
