Take a Deep Breath

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!

Psalm 150:6

“Take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth,” the pulmonary therapist tells her patient. For those who are aged or altitude challenged, that action may be difficult. This exercise reminds us that God has given us breath and provides it daily. From the first cry of a newborn to the final sigh of a dying person, God has given life and breath to His children.

We tend to take breath for granted, as well as many other things. There are parts of the body that we can do without, but breath is not one of them. Today we give thanks to God for the air in our lungs which allows parts of our bodies to work together to sustain us. Take a deep breath and give thanks to God for His amazing creation!

Margaret Hinchey
Loveland, CO

Creator God, we give You thanks for the gift of our breath which gives us daily life. Amen.

Reflect: Take a few moments to inhale and exhale. With each breath, thank God for someone in your life.

Read: Genesis 2:5-7 and Psalm 104:27-33
