Giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.
Colossians 1:12
Although I prefer summer over winter, one of my favorite seasonal activities is our church’s Christmas Eve candlelight service. After we sing, review the story of Jesus through the Old and New Testaments, pray, and share other Spirit-filled moments, we darken the room. Our pastor lights his candle from the Advent wreath’s Christ candle. He then lights the candles of church leaders who share their lights with everyone else. While we sing, “Silent Night,” we hold our candles high to celebrate the birth of our Savior.
However, we do not have to wait until Christmas or lift candles to share the light of Jesus. Any time we reflect Jesus’ love, we experience a win-win situation. In addition to our connection with God and other believers, we reach out to a world in need of everlasting light and life.

Eternal Savior, thank You for the opportunity to share Your light individually and collectively all year long. Amen.
Reflect: List ways you can reflect Jesus’ light in our sin-darkened world.
