And when they had read it, they rejoiced.
Acts 15:31a
“Are you ready yet? Hurry up!” How often have we used those words as a parent with our children or even our spouse! Perhaps the real question is, “For what?” We especially get tired of waiting when we are in a hurry — even on a Sunday morning, not wanting to be late for church. Or, not wanting to miss the bus for a trip to the mountains. Or, not wanting to be late to a friend’s house for dinner.
But what about reading God’s Word? Are we ready yet? The apostle Paul, writing in a fatherly manner to Timothy and Titus, encourages them to receive the benefit of God’s Word for them. The benefits are provided in the reading! They are apropos for all times, in season and out, and for rejoicing.
