Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.
Psalm 51:10
As I am falling asleep, sometimes negative thoughts begin to swirl in my head. If I permit one negative thought to progress, it seems to gain power and spiral inward. It attaches to other negative thoughts and a real “pity party” can evolve.
Releasing my problem of negative thoughts to Christ can enable me to recognize and then harness undesirable thinking. I have — we all have — the honor of seeking Christ and asking for His help and rescue. God can clear away those harmful, inward-focused thoughts and renew our minds. He can stir our thoughts to remind us of the spiritual gifts and service opportunities He has prepared for us. He can give us strength to resist the Devil as he attempts to hijack our mind, our energy, and our sleep.

Dear Jesus, Luther says the Devil is as close as my blouse. Thank You for living in my heart. Amen.
