Peace and Contentment

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:7

How do we feel when we face uncertainty? Anxious, agitated, or are we at peace? As I experience the uncertainties that come with aging, peace is hard to find.

Anxieties and agitations get the best of me when I slack off in prayer. The busyness of the day gets in my way. I forget that for every reason, season, or circumstance, our good Lord wants us to turn to Him.

There in our relationship with God through Jesus Christ, we find true peace which provides contentment. Daily prayer deepens that relationship enabling us to recognize the Lord’s presence in our lives. His presence comes with the graces and blessings we receive for our daily joys, works, and sorrows.

Our aches and pains may not go away. However, God’s “steadfast love endures forever” (Psalm 136). So be it!

Carol Monaco
Bethesda, MD

Heavenly Father, may I never lose touch with Your peace and contentment in my daily living. Amen.

Reflect: Take time each day to contemplate the Lord’s presence in your life.

Read: Philippians 4:4-9 and 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
