The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
John 1:5
During the summer we usually endure at least one power outage. Sometimes the power is gone for a few hours, but sometimes there’s no power for several days.
Thank God we don’t have any power outages with Him! Jesus is the Light, and the Light shines continuously! One time Jesus experienced a power outage. He was dying on the cross, and there was darkness for three hours (Matthew 27:45). Jesus died, but God raised Him from the dead. From then on, Jesus shined in the darkness with His forgiveness. This is Good News for us because we often suffer spiritual power outages when we turn away from God. So when we gather, we can share how Jesus supplies power for our power outages!

Lord Jesus, shine on me today with Your love and forgiveness whenever I suffer a spiritual power outage. Amen.
Reflect: Name times when you may suffer a spiritual power outage. How can we ask God for more power?
