Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth.
Revelation 21:1a
St. John describes the ultimate new start being prepared for us and all those who die in faith. His vision while on the island of Patmos provided a glance of the new Jerusalem as a cube with specific dimensions, “12,000 stadia” in each direction. Using our measurements, that is estimated to be 1,380 miles on each side. Calculate: 1,380 x 1,380 = 1,904,400 square miles. That’s the size of the United States west of the Mississippi River. John says it will be 1,380 miles high, too. How many levels might that include?
Jesus promised, “I go to prepare a place for you” (John 14:2-3), an eternal home and a new start for every believer from Adam and Eve, who received the first promise of redemption, to our generation, and beyond. We can anticipate with confidence, as David did in Psalm 23, “I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”

Thank You, Lord, for preparing a place for me. Amen.
Reflect: Imagine how many believers over the centuries will be in this new earth.
