As you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.
Matthew 25:40b
It has been 18 years since my infant grandson died. He had an incurable genetic condition occurring in the womb. As I reflect on that time, I remember the tears, the grief, and the sadness with laying him to rest before we even got to know him. But that is not all I remember. I recall the loving spirit and caring compassion shown by the members of my daughter’s congregation. They called. They visited. They prayed. Almost every day of his 31-day life, someone appeared with a hot meal at dinnertime. What a beautiful display of Christian love and caring!
Isn’t that what our Lord wants us to do? He certainly showed compassion as He healed the sick, the lame, and the blind. He wants us to show the same.

Dear Lord, help me to be aware of those who need my care and compassion, then help me to show it and give it. Amen.
Reflect: Do you know someone who has recently lost a loved one? Call or visit soon.
