Come to me and drink … rivers of living water.
John 7:37-38
As you read this, water is moving everywhere in your body. It’s in your cells delivering oxygen and nutrients. It’s circulating to clean out waste. It’s in the sweat that cools your skin. Water moves in and out and roundabout, renewing your brain and body. Surrounded by crowds focused on the water ritual of Sukkah at the temple, Jesus calls out that He gives living water — life-giving, renewing water for eternal life. He’s talking about the Holy Spirit (John 7:39), using the metaphor of water — a river that powerfully carries you today, next year, and forever! This Living Water from God not only carries you but cleans and sustains you! The Holy Spirit comes from God in a water rite we call Baptism. The Spirit poured into you on your Baptism day is eternal, just like you.

God, You invented water and made humans intimately connected to it. Even so, bring such intimate connection through Your Holy Spirit that we may move with You today. Amen.
Reflect: Delight in the image of Jesus as Living Water, given to you personally.
