Keep Your Father in Sight

For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.

Jeremiah 31:25

When my grandchildren were babies, they were content if mommy or daddy were in their line of sight. If their parents left the room, they cried, calling out “mama” or “dada,” until their parent returned and comforted them. Children know, from a young age, how much their parents satisfy their needs. They feel safe and content in their care. Likewise, we, as children of God, can find no true contentment unless our eyes are fixed on our heavenly Father. Certainly, there are times we try to exert our independence or look to other sources to satisfy our desires, but true peace and contentment is only found in Him. We see Him clearly in the person of His Son, Jesus who restored our relationship with our heavenly Father so that He can satisfy our weary, languishing souls.

Sandi Geis
St. Louis, MO

Father, thank You for Your constant presence and love. Help me keep my eyes on You, that I may find contentment all my days. Amen.

Reflect: How does Jesus assure you of His presence and provision when you are tempted to look away?

Read: Matthew 11:27-30 and Psalm 121
