Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.
Romans 6:8
Another high school reunion is coming soon! Since our last reunion five years ago, two close friends from the planning committee are now with their Lord. They will be missed.
Reunions can be both happy and awkward. As our memories fade and age lines appear, we don’t recognize as many faces or know what they have been through. However, we do know that God says we will see our loved ones and have a reunion with them someday in heaven (1 Thessalonians 4:17). It is a joyful promise for people of faith! What makes heaven even more joyful is that it is not just a reunion with loved ones — it is also a reunion with Jesus who made it all possible! Jesus’ death on the cross and the empty tomb are what give us eternal life by God’s grace!

Gracious God, thank You for assuring us that we will see our faith-filled loved ones with You in heaven. Amen.
Reflect: Think about joyful reunions with friends and family in the past. What are your best memories?
