It’s Father’s Day!

And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

Colossians 3:14

Reflecting on life with my dad, many things stand out: family camping and boating, singing, attending church, learning right from wrong, how to win and lose gracefully, then later, visits home simply taking walks together. I miss him, and love how he demonstrated the work of leading our family in ways pleasing to the Lord.

God’s perfect order in creation meant establishing the family (Genesis 28:14). Christian fathers connect us to God’s Word to strengthen and encourage us to follow God’s commands, learning to stand firm while Satan seeks to harm us. His word teaches us to fear and love God, respect our parents, live in harmony. To God be all glory as today we honor the fathers in our lives.

Denise Seaman
Clive, IA

Heavenly Father, continue to grant understanding to fathers desiring wisdom and truth, and let us be truly thankful. Amen.

Reflect: How does prayer and God’s word help us foster strong relationships between fathers and children?

Read: Ephesians 3:14-19 and Proverbs 23:24-26
