But when I hoped for good, evil came, and when I waited for light, darkness came.
Job 30:26
Job speaks of a deep troubling in his life. Such trembling knows no particular real estate. It can occur even during the worship hour.
A family of three sat several pews ahead of me. I know not why, but the woman was experiencing an anxiety attack that shook her soul. In God’s presence, we are present. The lady’s child cuddled up to Mom. The husband inched closer to Wife. The best present is presence.
In these weeks of Christmas gift lists, let’s check twice: are we being present among the presents? The Father’s greatest gift is His Son’s presence among us. Without Christ, we are valueless; with Christ in us, we are precious. Let us be His love to those experiencing grief, panic, illness, guilt, or confusion. Be the “merry” in someone’s Christmas season.

Reflect: Be God’s good in someone’s evil place; be His light in someone’s darkness.
