How to Walk
7 19 26 HFL
July 19, 2026 | By Neal A. Orabka

I will walk with integrity of heart.

Psalm 101:2b

Psalm 101 appears to be a coronation oath. Its words are a king’s pledge and promise to live with integrity in a world that doesn’t live that way.

There are 10 phrases in this psalm that begin with the words, “I will.” The newly crowned king is promising to rule with equity, fairness, and justice. He will exhibit honesty, uprightness, grace, and fairness. He will oppose any evil around him. Wouldn’t life be different if you could live this way, living a life of integrity and acceptance? Yet, each of us will inevitably fail in our relationships or our behavior. We want to do what is right, but we can’t. There’s One who does so live. Jesus shows us integrity, forgiveness, and love. The qualities we strive for, He has. What the psalm idealizes, Jesus realizes. Our Lord offers us steadfast love, forgiveness, and justice. Our Lord shows us how to walk and helps us when we stumble.

Lord, teach me to treat others with fairness, love, and forgiveness. Amen.

Reflect: Think about how well you walk.
