Jesus … who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame.
Hebrews 12:2
Marathon runners know how it feels to hit the wall. It’s the point when they feel they can’t go on, but they must break through if they want to finish. In his psalms, David often wrote about being in a pit and begged God to rescue him. When life feels like a solid wall in our paths, or adversity plunges us into pits, we look for a lifeline.
On the cross, our Lord and Savior Jesus hit His wall and descended into His pit. He died. But He didn’t stay dead! On Easter morning, He broke through that wall and rose to finish His work here on earth. His sacrifice was complete, and He gave us our lifeline, our hope in eternity.

Dear Jesus, Your sacrifice on the cross gave us victory over death. Thank You for leaving Your heavenly home to be among us. Amen.
Reflect: How does it feel to win? Nothing can top our Savior’s victory on Easter morning. Alleluia!
