Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
Galatians 6:2
Medical experts recommend that senior citizens incorporate strength training into their exercise routines as it is vital to improved health and mobility. God’s Word also commends to Christians the importance of strength training. We are told to carry one another’s burdens. That can often be a heavy load!
Seniors, in particular, are poised to exercise our faith in this way. Years of experience with burdens of our own, and personal encounters of grace given by Jesus and His followers, have prepared us to be good listeners and sharers of mercy, encouragement, and grace. It can be hard work for sure, but it is work that mobilizes us to do the compassionate work of Jesus while being strengthened in our own faith at the same time.

Jesus, motivate me to exercise my faith by carrying the burdens of my friends, family, and neighbors in a way that connects them to Your grace. Amen.
Reflect: Extend grace, not judgement, to someone who needs you to help carry their burden.
