He Makes Me Lie Down

He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul ...

Psalm 23:2-3

I don’t remember liking naps as a child, but I sure appreciate them now! Sometimes I do too much. Then I ache or can’t catch my breath. My body makes me take a break. And while I rest, some healing is going on inside of me.

As we rest in God by reading and learning about the Bible, listening to a sermon, praying, and receiving the Lord’s Supper, we receive spiritual healing. God restores and renews our souls.

When we get too busy or our sin weighs us down, our Shepherd reminds us that it’s time to sit beside his still waters and be restored again.

Stephenie Hovland
Portage, WI

Good Shepherd, restore my soul and lead me in your way. Amen.

Reflect: Close your eyes and rest. Give God all your burdens with each breath you release.

Read: Psalm 23 and Psalm 51:10-12
