Happy Father’s Day!
6 16 24 HFL
June 16, 2024

The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him.

Proverbs 23:24

My husband, Gordy, moved to Assisted Living in October 2019. I couldn’t meet his many medical needs while the senior campus he moved to could very well. Our separation has been difficult and became more difficult when the pandemic arrived. Lockdowns meant he couldn’t leave the building, and I couldn’t visit. To take the place of physical visits, we keep a consistent schedule of phone calls: we each have a current copy of Hope-Full Living, and we read it together over the phone. Each night we pray for the needs of family and friends, and then pray the Lord’s Prayer together. We’ve also done FaceTime on his birthday and on Father’s Day. We usually watch football and baseball games at the same time and cheer together over the phone!

Dear Father, thank you for helping us deal with separation in such a wonderful way! Amen.

Reflect: Hopefully, others who are separated will read this devotion and try it ... It works!

Read: Proverbs 22:6 and Proverbs 23:22-25
