You are a chosen race … a people for his own possession.
1 Peter 2:9a
Many people today are seeking knowledge about their ancestors. They look at their family tree to feel they belong to something substantial.
Through Baptism, we are connected to God’s family tree. Since creation, God has nurtured His children, patiently listened to their prayers, and provided for their needs.
Our Father has given us the Bible as an account of His love for His children — our ancestors. Through these examples, we learn that God keeps His promises. Through His Son, Jesus, God forgives us and helps us live as His children. His gift of the Holy Spirit helps us to strengthen our faith and reach out to share His love. Thus, God’s family tree keeps growing new branches.
