Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18a
As time goes on, we reminisce about the “good old days.” One of my most cherished memories is of my grandma who was a five-second prayer warrior. She prayed about anything at any time and with a few heartfelt words.
I remember the hot, humid summer days when the only cooling equipment was an electric fan. One summer afternoon, my grandma decided the kitchen was too hot to peel potatoes. So, we moved to the back porch. As we were peeling the potatoes, a breeze cooled us. My grandmother paused and said, “Thank you, Jesus, for the cool breeze.” We returned to our peeling only to know that grandma would quickly find another moment to share her thoughts with God. What a wonderful gift my grandma gave me — the five-second prayer for anytime and anywhere.

Thank You, God, for those who teach us to pray about everyday-life experiences. Amen.
Reflect: Throughout the day, say a quick heartfelt prayer to God thanking Him for the moment.
