He does not know what is to be, for who can tell him how it will be?”
Ecclesiastes 8:7
Oblivious to coming events, our youth group crammed into an old school bus headed to an out-of-state park. On a deserted stretch of interstate, the bus died. With no air conditioning and little breeze, we slowly melted. Pre-cellphone days compelled three of us to hike to a distant store. About halfway there, I froze, stifled a scream, and pointed to a human leg. Close inspection revealed a prosthetic limb. After my husband called a mechanic friend, he started the bus, and our journey continued. We never learned the story behind the abandoned leg. Unexpected events arise every day, sometimes uncomfortable like a stranded bus. Other times scary like a dismembered leg. For unexpected moments, explained or unexplained, we seek expert help. God, our greatest help, is never surprised by unexpected circumstances and offers direction for this life and the life to come.
