For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him.

Psalm 62:5

Our 21-year-old grandson is like so many Gen Z’s today. They are growing up in a world where it’s normal to be skeptical. They don’t view the world through rose-colored glasses and can be more skeptical than trusting.

I listen to our grandson’s concerns, ask him about his expectations in life, and talk to him about the reliability of God. Recently, I shared David’s words in Psalm 62 with him. Beginning in his youth, David learned to not only wait on God, but put all his hope in Him to deliver him and act when life was troubling. I remind AJ that, just like David, he can rest in the Lord and commit everything to God. Knowing God will walk with him throughout his life can keep him from being cynical, skeptical, and can meet his expectations.

Dear God, thank You for giving me words of hope to share with people of every generation. Amen.

Reflect: Talk to someone of a different generation about God’s faithfulness.

Read: Proverbs 23:18 and Psalm 61:1-5
