The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end.
Lamentations 3:22
Human beings, even Christians, struggle with expectations, hope, and contentment. Saying “I expected more,” “Wish I had a bigger house,” or “I’m useless,” shows how the devil constantly drags us into a life of despair rather than life in God’s love, grace, and mercy. Yet, hope springs eternal! “According to [God’s] great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ ...” (1 Peter 1:3), continuing “to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.” For YOU. Though we struggle now, our heavenly hope is God’s blessing to us. When your spirit is less than joyful, remember David’s words in Psalm 42:11 “Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.”

Lord, thank You for being with us in our groaning and joy. Amen.
Reflect: As seasons of life change, how does God’s word help us to wait patiently for our heavenly glory.
