Developing Spiritual Resilience
6 10 25 HFL
June 10, 2025

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

Romans 12:12

As a senior, I have learned the value of spiritual resilience. This ability to be faithful despite adversity allows us to rely on God for help. Being human, we can feel discouraged by challenges. That is when the Devil tempts us to give up on God. Listening to him is like inviting him to visit you and giving him your home address. We can expect God to help us when we trust Him. When we do, we will pray to Him more sincerely and frequently. We will also develop our faith through church worship and service. Emulating Christ will help us develop the virtues needed to achieve His purpose for us. In every difficulty, we can ask what God wants us to do or learn, trusting He will grant us contentment and hope.

Jan Kilby
San Antonio, TX

Dear Lord, please help me to be spiritually resilient to enjoy Your friendship and the promise of eternal life. Amen.

Reflect: What trying times in your life have caused you to rely on God for help? How did you benefit?

Read: Psalm 28:7 and Romans 8:28
