But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

The SOVIET UNION — June 16, 1963 — 62 years ago today. Valentine Tereshkova, age 26, first woman in space, flew her Soviet spacecraft 48 orbits around the earth before landing safely. For her work she was awarded numerous medals and honors.
The world applauds those who have done outstanding things. Works without faith, however, is dead. Many people only seek their own glory and contentment in what they do. But those who seek the kingdom of God find contentment, most of all, in what God has done for them. Christ gave His righteous self into death for the salvation of every sinner. That is the greatest work. In faith, we now do all our works to the glory of God and for the good of our neighbors. And we are content.

Almighty and merciful God, give me a contented heart in what You do for me and in the work You give me to do for You. Amen.
Reflect: Write to a family member thanking them for something they did years ago.
