… I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.
Philippians 4:12
I really enjoy food. I enjoy it a little too much, and because of that, I am not very good at knowing when to say when. I am not content with just one bite of a dessert. I want the whole pan. I can’t just eat enough for what my body needs. I want to stuff my face. As soon as I am done with one meal, I am looking forward to the next one. I am never quite content with my daily bread. I am always found either wanting more or disappointed with what I have.
At the same time, I am content in knowing that even if I never have another good meal, I still have Jesus. In Him, my contentment is complete. He is everything I need. He fills me with Himself each day. He is better than any meal I could ever dream up.

Lord, in the middle of my discontent, make me content in Your Son. Amen.
Reflect: Take some time to write down how contentment with God affects your daily life.
