Constant Care

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Psalm 46:1

In my role as primary caregiver for my husband, I try to keep one or two people as backups for assistance. Recently, I gained a new appreciation for that arrangement. When a regular helper planned an extended trip, a backup agreed to cover for her. However, the backup’s husband required an emergency appendectomy, plus a disabled aunt moved into her home. Suddenly, we needed a backup for our backup. I sighed in relief when a second backup agreed to come ... until two nieces required a babysitter for their medically fragile children. Back to my dwindling list, I finally found one who could come. Unlike human helpers, God remains ready to help any time. No circumstantial limits. No unexpected surprises. No last-minute cancellations. God is now, and always will be, our ever-present, never-failing provider for every need.

Loving God, thank You for Your constant presence and provision. Amen.

Reflect: Memorize a Bible verse that reminds you of God’s love and care.

Read: Psalm 18:6 and Philippians 4:19
