They are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs.
James 3:4b
Robert L. Scott wrote a book that later turned into a 1945 film titled, “God Is My Co-Pilot.” That sounds pretty good at first reading — having God sitting next to you throughout life, assisting you in decision-making. Pretty reasonable thinking. But then I saw a message on a bulletin board sign outside of a church which read, “If God is your co-pilot, change seats!” That hit me. Maybe I am allowing God to be only my co-pilot instead of turning my life totally to Him to be the helmsman of everything that I am and do. How wonderful and comforting it would be to be completely in His wise guidance and with His powerful hand at the controls. Then the mission and ministry to which I am called would be assured of success. Yes, it’s time for something new; it’s time to change seats.

Jesus, Savior, chart and compass came from Thee, pilot me. Amen.
Reflect: How would my mission to those the Lord sets before me be different if He is my total pilot?
