Draw near to God.

James 4:8a

Are you close to your spouse, your children, grandchildren, or a dear friend? To be close to loved ones means that relationships have been built over time. To draw close to God requires a sacred and holy relationship. The call to draw near to God is both an invitation and a promise. God will draw near to us as we draw near to Him.

What does it mean to draw near to God? It means to draw near to God through worship and prayer. It means to draw near by seeking God’s counsel. It means to enjoy God’s presence during devotions. God will reward you with His presence as you spend time with Him. Your faith is built by daily habits that allow you to connect with God. Drawing near to God helps us to resist the devil, to speak well of others, and to think about eternal things.
