An Irish Blessing
3 17 26 HFL
March 17, 2026

For I, the LORD your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.”

Isaiah 41:13

On our recent trip to Ireland, we saw dozens of plaques on souvenir shop walls with a traditional Irish blessing. Most of them ended with, “May God hold you in the palm of His hands.” This blessing is filled with hope and promise.

Throughout the Bible, God promises to be with us in times of trial and uncertainty. The image of sitting in the palm of God’s hand instills security and comfort. We know that God holds on to us even when Satan tries to snatch us out of God’s hand (John 10:29). The realization that God’s protective hand surrounds us gives a sense of faith and trust in Him that will never go away. Next time you are afraid or lacking confidence, remember that the hands of our great God surround and support you each day! Share that blessing!

God, whose almighty hands surround us each day, help us to give thanks for Your assurance and protection! Keep us close to You. Amen!

Reflect: Share the Irish blessing with a friend who is struggling or feeling lost.

Read: Psalm 91:1-2 and John 10:27-30
