Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.
1 Corinthians 12:27
Some years ago, our church held a retreat that was based on 1 Corinthians 12:27. The first thing the pastor did was to roll out a large sheet of white paper, the kind used for newsprint. He lay on it and asked someone to take a marker and outline his body. He then asked us to write our names on the figure indicating which part of that body we thought corresponded to our spiritual gifts. Did they proceed from the use of our eyes, hands, minds, hearts, or so on? Where did we fit in? When we finished, the figure was completely filled with our names that appeared in various places. We were awed!
And so it is in each church, with each member having a special part to contribute to the whole.
There is no more or less important part. All together, we make up the Body of Christ to edify each other and to bring glory to Christ’s church.

Lord, enable me to use the gifts You have graciously given me. Amen.
Reflect: What part of the Body of Christ are you?
