Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained in a righteous life.

Proverbs 16:31

Why is it that so many of us fight, even deny, our aging? For women the cosmetic industry provides assistance. Hair coloring is also helpful. “Gray hair a crown of glory?” We males of course have our Rogaine.

When I turned 80, I struggled with that dreaded number, and so I found that it felt much better if I converted my age from Fahrenheit to Celsius. I wasn’t 80 (Fahrenheit); I was 26.667 years old (Celsius).

But no matter how we mix the numbers, the reality is that our age is a gift from God — a crown of glory. Each year, God’s reward of grace is an opportunity to live and proclaim His love in Jesus Christ.
