Do not neglect hospitality to strangers …
Hebrews 13:2
As a widow, I sit in church with two friends who are also widows. It isn’t easy being a single in a church full of families. At this morning’s service, my friend noticed a young woman sitting alone. She felt the urge to speak to her and asked her to join us. It was the woman’s first visit to our church. Feeling conspicuous and alone, she was grateful for being included.
How often have I assumed a single person is alone by choice and I haven’t listened to God’s urging? Most times we’ll never know the impact of our kind words. But in this instance, we witnessed the Holy Spirit using our invitation to this young woman to join us in worshipping Christ.
