Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand and touched him and said to him, “I will; be clean.”
Mark 1:41
We have biblical accounts of Jesus’ compassion to help others. I think of the mother in the funeral procession for her son, and Jesus gave the son back to her. I remember the blind man through his faith, asked Jesus for healing and He did. The leper also asked Jesus to be willing to heal him, and Jesus did. Every time, Jesus extended grace, which led to restoration. Our abilities to extend grace, as Jesus did, is well within our grasp. Being finite humans defines us as having limitations. We get irritated, frustrated, and annoyed. But, if we add an “e” to the word human, we have humane. Humane characteristics include kindness and compassion.
Let us ask our Lord for a little more “e” please, to add to being human!

Lord, please continue to bless me with the fruit of the Spirit so that I might share Your gifts of grace and compassion with others. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
