Good Friday - Sermon Text: 1 Corinthians 15:3; Isaiah 53:5; Readings: Psalm 31; Isaiah 52:13-53:12; John 19:17-30
It’s Good Friday, but do you feel good about it? Or on Good Friday, do you feel bad for what Jesus suffered and why that was necessary? Jesus suffered and died for you — for your salvation, but He died and rose again for your everlasting good.
The Anguish of Dying
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Hebrews 13:8
When I think about my husband’s death, I thank God that Rod didn’t endure ongoing pain. The medications dulled his agony. But he did suffer initially, and we were traumatized as we watched him die. I wonder if Mary experienced shock and anger when she watched her Son being beaten and nailed to the cross.
