Psalm 85; Amos 7:7-15; Mark 6:14-29
“Straight Lines” - Sermon Text: Amos 7:7 - Rev. Thomas Eggold
By nature, we want to stand on our own and we want our hard work to count for something. But no matter how diligent our efforts, and regardless of how we measure up to others, the plumb line of God’s perfect Law continues to reveal our shortcomings and uncover our need for help. And God uses the reversals and rejection of the world and, by the light of His Word, He works through the failings of our own sinful flesh to bring us to a place where we die, and God takes over.
