Fear: God is Always Near |  Moments of Comfort

Fear has taken over the lives of many people. With all kinds of media hype, perhaps you, too, have found yourself fearful. Fearful for your own life and well-being. Fearful of a sudden, painful death. Fearful for your spouse and children, for your loved ones. We can see fear in the opening pages of the Bible. After Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, they realized they had disobeyed God. When they heard Him walking near them, they hid. God called out to them. And here’s how Adam answered – Genesis 3:10. “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.” Clearly Adam sensed danger. But the danger wasn’t from the devil who had deceived him into disobeying. Adam perceived danger from God, his Creator, who had the power to punish Adam for his sin. And that’s the fundamental reality in this: Sin brings fear. BUT – God is always near! Adam and Eve’s sin separated them from God. But God didn’t separate Himself from His dearly loved children!
