June 2022 Program Summaries

June 5, 2022 – The Day of Pentecost

Psalm 143:1-10; Genesis 11:1-9 and Acts 2:1-11; John 14:25-26
“To Us, Through Us” - Sermon Text: John 14:25-26 - Rev. Dr. Thomas Ahlersmeyer

Pentecost commemorates and celebrates our Father God bringing Jesus Christ to us and through us, into the lives of others through the gift of the Holy Spirit. What a grace-filled privilege to receive and give the life-giving precious Gospel.

June 12, 2022 – Holy Trinity

Psalm 8; Acts 2:14a, 22-36; John 8:48-59
“The Triune God Loves You” - Sermon Text: Acts 2:33 - Rev. Dr. Walter Maier III

God is triune – three Persons, yet one God, as revealed in Scripture. We cannot fully comprehend this. But another truth from Scripture we do fully understand – the Triune God loves each one of us with a tremendous love.

June 19, 2022 – Second Sunday after Pentecost

Psalm 3; Isaiah 65:1-9; Luke 8:26-39
“How Much God Has Done” - Sermon Text: Luke 8:38-39 - Rev. Thomas Eggold

In today’s reading, after Jesus drove demons out of a man, He told him, “Return home and tell how much God has done for you.” Christ crossed the lake to restore this man, not only so that the man would be “dressed and in his right mind,” but so that this once ostracized and isolated outcast could go home, could be reunited with his family, could rejoin his community, and could carry with him a message of “how much God has done” for him. This is what Christ has done for us as well.

June 26, 2022 – Third Sunday after Pentecost

Psalm 16; 1 Kings 19:9b-21; Luke 9:51-62
“To Jerusalem!” - Sermon Text: Luke 9:51 - Rev. Shayne Jonker

“When the days drew near for Jesus to be taken up, He set His face to go to Jerusalem.” Jesus’ purpose, His mission, was to go to Jerusalem and be crucified for the world’s sin, rise from the dead, and ascend into heaven. He came to be taken up, and to take us up together with Him.
